For years, Brutus amplifiers have been recognized the world over as some of the best subwoofer amplifiers in their class. Hifonics newly designed Hifonics Brutus amplifiers are the most efficient and comprehensive Super D-Class series ever. "With the new vertical fin heat-sink design these amplifiers have better heat dissispation and therefore run more efficient resulting in less impact on a car's battery and charging system than many other amps available today." Translated into cost, that's more wattage output with less battery current used, equaling more watts per dollar. As always, Brutus amps are 1-Ohm stable, but also run at 4- or 2-Ohms for a much tighter bass response, and it is no different for this new line up. For 2011 there are five models with power starting at 1200 Watts all the way up to 3000 Watts. In relying on this super-speed enhanced chip-set, it offers higher current capacities and more precise digital to analog conversion. The result is very low distortion, even at high listening levels.

My friend recently picked up this amp for his 12" type R and this amp does not disappoint! Hes currently running the type R at 900 rms and this amp runs it very nicely. This amp runs very cool, even in arizona heat. Great amp for its price range, I'm getting this as my next amp.
cons:
subsonic is a lackluster feature, disable it if you buy this amp.

Bought 2 of these puppies for a 2kw setup im currently building. I took one of these amps and hooked it to a PowerBass 15 inch woofer, in a 5 Cubic Foot enclosure. its a 2 ohm DVC woofer wired in parallel. Of course you will see 2 sets of positive and negative terminals, thats just for ease of wiring, internally its parallel to mono. (say you dont want to tie your positive and negatives together and run in separate terminals), Running it for over an hour nonstop, never did seem to heat up at all. didnt see any volt drop past 13 volts with this amp. One thing i do recommend when your setting your settings is leaving the Bass EQ off because its no different than Bass Boost and clipping is possible when using it. Clipping is devastating for woofers. Seen too many kids blow woofers due to many reasons and this being one of them. the only knobs that really matter are your Gain/Level and Frequency response. I would say to keep that right around 90hz and down. just what I run it as, others may run it 70 and down and so forth. As far as the amps structure goes, its very well built, caution yourself around those heatsink fins, they are sharp. its solid and can shell out a beating when wired and tuned right. It pounds that 15 hard enough to flex nearly everything in the car. its loud. Ive ran alot of mainstream amps and this amp does the job very well for what its selling for, I consider it a great deal. You wont be disappointed with this amp.

i have it on 2 kicker cvt's wired at 4ohm and they sound great,great for someone on a budget.
